Forest Township Area Senior Center
Staff
Kelly Jacobs - Executive Director
Kelly has been the executive director for the senior center since July 2020. Previously she worked at an assisted living facility where she was the activities director. Kelly enjoys working with the seniors and finding new programming for them. Kelly earned her BAS from UM-Flint in August of 2021 and is working on her MS from Johnson & Wales. She is studying Nonprofit management and will graduate in May 2023. When Kelly is not at the center, or studying, she loves spending time with her husband going on weekend trips around Michigan, or visiting her children.
Heather Lang - Assistant Director
Heather has been the Assistant Director for the senior center since August 2019. She graduated with a certificate in Medical Assisting from Ross Medical School. After graduating from the program, Heather worked as a Medical Assistant in a senior living home and worked in a physician's office. Heather has 2 children who attend Lakeville Schools, and has been very involved in school activities. She helps in her child's classroom and can be found volunteering as a parent-helper at school sporting events.
Bonnie Cross - Lead Cook
Bonnie began working at the senior center as a volunteer in 2007. She was hired as a substitute cook in 2008. Bonnie became lead cook in 2015. Bonnie is known for going above and beyond when it comes to our seniors. She remembers each person's likes and dislikes and will try to cater to their needs. When Bonnie isn't at the center, you may find her doing crafts or spending time with her family.
Kim Schmidt - Assistant Cook I
Kim has been our assistant cook since February of 2019. Her background includes being a school bus driver. She served as the lead cook for the Lakeville Marching Bandcamp for 3 years where she bought and prepared meals for 130-140 people each day. She spends her extra time baking and selling her baked goods and playing with her border collie Beasley.
Tammy Peek - Assistant Cook II
Tammy is one of our newer members of the senior center. She started visiting the center in 2020, picking up jigsaw puzzles to do during the pandemic. She decided she loved the senior center so much that she wanted to volunteer her time. She began as a volunteer in early 2021 and when an opening needed to be filled in the kitchen, she was hired as a permanent part-time assistant cook. Her bright and happy personality is infectious and will make you smile. When Tammy is not up at the senior center, she spends her time doing jigsaw puzzles, watching musicals, and spending time with her friends.
Cathy Wentz - Assistant Cook II
Cathy works in our kitchen alongside Bonnie on Thursdays. She can be found working in the kitchen during coworker vacations. Cathy also volunteers at the senior center with different projects but mainly as one of our greeters. She has been with the senior center since 2014. Her previous experiences have been in restaurants as a cook and waitstaff. She is also involved with the Lion's Club and Ret Hat Society organizations.
