Activities

The Senior Center offers many educational, health and fitness, nutrition, transportation, volunteerism, outreach, and social services programs for our seniors 50 and over to help them stay healthy, active, and independent.  We strive at having programs that will benefit all interests.  Be sure to check out our activity calendar for program dates, and times of activities you may be interested in.  OR try something new! Just come in and enjoy yourself!

Education

We try to have new educational programs monthly because we all know the adage "you’re never to old to learn".  Monthly education classes can include but are not limited to computers, crafting, gardening, quilting, crocheting and knitting, and of course our monthly guest speakers.

Health and Fitness

Studies show that seniors who strive toward a healthy body and mind have a quality of life that can exceed expectations.  We have fitness activities for all levels of strength and flexibility. Activities include cornhole, croquet, darts, line dancing, pickle ball, sit and fit, walking club, bike club, yoga, Zumba, and our newest class silver sneakers.

Nutritional Services

The Forest Township Senior Center offers nutritionist approved homemade lunches daily and are offered as either dine-in or take-out.  Lunch menu and costs can be found on our monthly menu calendar.  Other nutritional offerings: guest speakers who teach about healthy eating, diabetic cooking, and cooking for one class just to name a few.

Transportation

Forest Township Senior Center has a bus that we use to transport our seniors on field trips.  We have monthly field trips to various places like Meadowbrook Hall, Loons baseball games, various goodwill and salvation army shops, the Amish store, mystery dinner trips, music venues, and much more.

Social Services

We pride ourselves in offering these services to our seniors: blood pressure checks, a hearing aid clinic, and loan closet with medical equipment.  We have providers who come to the center monthly or yearly to provide services to our seniors.  The Genesee County Health Department comes to the center twice a year to vaccinate our seniors.  Legal Services of Eastern Michigan and Veterans Services come to our center once a month to work with our seniors.  You must set up an appointment with office ahead of time to receive these services.  MI Café/MMAP services are also available to our seniors.  Our counselor is available 2 days per week to help those seniors in need of assistance with Medicare/Medicaid or those needing assistance with bridge cards. You must set up an appointment with the office to receive these services.

Just Overall Fun

Don’t feel the need for any of our services? Just want to come in and socialize and have some fun?  That is something you are always able to do at the senior center!  We have fun activities like cards, board games, and bingo.  We also enjoy celebrating the holidays or making some of our own fun with spirit weeks.

“This program and/or service is fully or partially funded by Genesee County Senior Millage funds. Your tax dollars are at work.”
